Soccer Recap: Elgin Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Elgin and Streamwood had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Maroons came out on top against the Sabres by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Given Elgin's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Streamwood are ranked 176th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jayden Plancarte and Xavier Salinas scored all three of Elgin's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Elgin's win bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Streamwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Elgin is set to face off against their familiar foe Aurora East at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Streamwood will take on rival West Aurora at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
