Recap: Flanagan Falcons vs. Cooper City Cowboys
The Flanagan Falcons won the last time they faced the Cooper City Cowboys, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Flanagan escaped with a win against Cooper City by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Flanagan.
Flanagan found their leader in underclassman D?Naela Myers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 29 rebounds. Myers is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Denise Liu, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Cooper City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Eliana Reese. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Isabella Riollana was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Flanagan's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Cooper City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flanagan and Coral Springs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Cooper City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Pembroke Pines Charter is ranked 298th, while Cooper City is ranked 322nd).
