Football Game Preview: Newman Central Catholic Comets vs. Monmouth-Roseville Titans

The Newman Central Catholic Comets are taking a road trip to square off against the Monmouth-Roseville Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newman Central Catholic will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Newman Central Catholic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Kewanee 79-32. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Boilermakers are ranked 432nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Monmouth-Roseville was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were outmatched by Rockridge and fell 48-12. The Titans have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Although Monmouth-Roseville took the loss, they still got scores from Nick Huston and Lars Bergren.

Newman Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Monmouth-Roseville, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 7-1.

Newman Central Catholic might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Monmouth-Roseville in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
