After flying high against Cripple Creek-Victor on Tuesday, Custer County came back down to earth. The Bobcats lost 14-8 to the Elbert Bulldogs on Thursday. The Bobcats' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Wade Pierce was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Moulton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Custer County's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Elbert, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-6.
