The Zionsville Eagles will face off against the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Zionsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

While Zionsville's victory against Western Boone wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Stars 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Stars: they've now won eight in a row.

Liv Reid and Kristin Evers dominated on the mound. Reid tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits, while Evers tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Evers has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Zionsville let Maddie Benedict and Abbie Geib run wild. Benedict went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Geib went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Geib has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Kohler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 15-3 to Roncalli.

Izzy Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Zionsville's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Guerin Catholic, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Zionsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Guerin Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Zionsville took their win against Guerin Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-3 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
