Softball Recap: McHenry Victorious

McHenry won against Crystal Lake South on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Warriors walked away with a 7-3 win over the Jacobs Golden Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Golden Eagles back in April, they had to take a 10-9 defeat.

Natalie Bender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lyla Oeffling was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyse Fullington, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for McHenry and bumps their season record up to 14-15. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-21 Crystal Lake South and 15-16 Jacobs. As for Jacobs, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-16.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. McHenry will take on rival Prairie Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Jacobs is set to square off against their familiar foe Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
