Basketball Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Longview Christian
After two games on the road, Heritage Christian is heading back home. They will take on Longview Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Heritage Christian struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Saints had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Heritage Christian was outmatched by the Saints on the road and fell 72-35. Heritage Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-11.
Despite the loss, Heritage Christian had strong showings from Ali Orchard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Deanna Montgomery, who scored nine points along with four steals. Montgomery hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games.
Meanwhile, Longview Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against First Baptist, falling 62-30. While losing is never fun, Longview Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1224th, while the Saints are ranked 453rd).
Heritage Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Longview Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Heritage Christian took their win against the in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 43-23. Does Heritage Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will the turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
