Baseball Recap: Oak Forest Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Oak Forest, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Crete-Monee Warriors a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Bengals not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 22, 2024.

Bryce Hoffman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kevin Sullivan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Hoffman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Oak Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Oak Forest's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Crete-Monee, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Forest will host Hinsdale South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.2 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crete-Monee, they will welcome Beecher at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
