            Basketball Recap: Berkley Bears vs. Avondale Yellowjackets        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Voyageur Academy  last Friday, Berkley came back down to earth. The Berkley Bears fell just short of the Avondale Yellowjackets by a score of  49-46 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  61-55  back in January.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Caleigh Tracey, who  almost  dropped  a double-double with ten points and nine  boards.  Hailey Kirkwood was another key player,  going 6-for-10  on her way to 15  points.
 Even though they lost, Berkley  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 14  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive boards in 44 consecutive  matches  dating back to last season.
 Avondale's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Morgan Mcpherson, who  went 6-for-15  en route to 14 points and eight  rebounds. Mcpherson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more  steals the last three times she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Sasha McClellan, who  posted ten  points along with five  boards and three  steals.
Berkley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Avondale,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 14-3.
 Berkley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  contest,  a  50-43  win against Athens on the 21st. As for Avondale, they also  didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  54-47  victory against Southfield Arts & Tech on the 14th.
