Soccer Game Preview: St. Joseph vs. St. Anthony

The St. Joseph Flyers will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the St. Anthony Yellowjackets at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

St. Joseph is leaving town to face St. Anthony after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. St. Joseph came up short against Saint Mary's Hall back in December of 2024, falling 5-0. The Flyers have struggled against the Barons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Holy Cross. Mark Leiker was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

St. Anthony's goal came courtesy of Evan Carmona, which was the first he's scored this season.

Everything went St. Joseph's way against St. Anthony in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, as St. Joseph made off with a 15-1 win. Does St. Joseph have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Anthony turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
