Baseball Recap: Fleming County Find Success

Fleming County won against Mason County last Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Panthers walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Russell Red Devils. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 13-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kaleb McIntyre spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Preston Cropper was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Conner Allen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Fleming County and bumps their season record up to 7-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Coming up, Fleming County will square off against Powell County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Russell, they will take on Raceland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
