Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McClatchy). They put the hurt on the Cordova Lancers with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Lancers are ranked 855th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McClatchy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Cordova, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8-1 record this season.
