Volleyball Recap: Wiregrass Comes Up Short

If Wiregrass was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Grace and Glory Christian on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kings lost 3-0 to the Evangel Christian Lightning on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lightning this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 9th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-13.

Avery Wilson paced Wiregrass' offense, picking up six kills. Wilson got some help from Ellie Alford and her 15 assists. Lillie Geiger controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Wiregrass has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Evangel Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6-1 record this season.

Wiregrass is taking a road trip to challenge Ballard Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Evangel Christian, they will host Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
