Football Game Preview: Lecanto Panthers vs. Leesburg Yellow Jackets

The Lecanto Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Lecanto put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They breezed past Lyman to the tune of 50-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Jt Tipton had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 199 yards and four TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (166). Braylen Moore was Tipton's top target, picking up 78 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Leesburg humbled Lyman with a 42-13 victory.

Lecanto better keep an eye on Jacob Kinsy. He was instrumental in Leesburg's win, throwing for 243 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 39 yards and a pair of scores. Kinsy's passing game has become a key predictor of the Yellow Jackets' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.

Lecanto's record now sits at 5-3. As for Leesburg, their record is now an identical 5-3.

Lecanto barely slipped by Leesburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 14-13. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Yellow Jackets' Xavier Irizarry, who threw for 187 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
