Basketball Game Preview: Springfield Township Spartans vs. Cheltenham Panthers

Springfield Township is 2-8 against Cheltenham since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Springfield Township Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Cheltenham Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

Springfield Township is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Upper Moreland by a score of 59-57 on Thursday. The Spartans just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham entered their tilt with New Hope-Solebury on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They secured a 51-47 W over the Lions. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Lions are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cheltenham pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Springfield Township, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.

Springfield Township was taken down by Cheltenham 66-38 when the teams last played back in January. Can Springfield Township avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
