Softball Preview: Hudson Hornets vs. Madisonville Mustangs
Hudson is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Madisonville a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Hudson Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Madisonville Mustangs at 6:45 p.m.
Hudson lost 14-1 to Bullard on Friday.
Meanwhile, Madisonville got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Palestine by a score of 12-9.
Ellie West made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Jayci Morriss was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Farris, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.
Madisonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Madisonville's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Hudson, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11-1.
