Aptos and Soquel are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The Aptos Mariners will head out on the road to square off against the Soquel Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Aptos is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Friday, Aptos got the win against Scotts Valley by a conclusive 5-1. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Soquel has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 2. They fell just short of Aptos by a score of 2-1 last Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 994th, while the Mariners are ranked 271st).

Aptos pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four contests. As for Soquel, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Aptos came out on top in a nail-biter against Soquel in their previous matchup last Wednesday, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aptos since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
