Softball Game Preview: Fannett Metal vs. Southern Fulton Indians

For the second straight game, Fannett Metal will face off against Southern Fulton. Fannett Metal will welcome Southern Fulton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fannett Metal and Southern Fulton meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Fannett Metal narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Southern Fulton 4-3. The win continues a trend for Fannett Metal in their matchups with Southern Fulton: they've now won three in a row.

For Southern Fulton's part, Ava Beal was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Beal was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Beal wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lakyin Hixson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fannett Metal pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Fulton, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
