Volleyball Recap: Colonial Grenadiers vs. University Cougars
Colonial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Cougars. The Grenadiers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Colonial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19.
Leading University to victory were Alik Torchilo and Armando Zapata. Torchilo had seven kills, four aces, three digs, and one block, while Zapata had five kills and two aces. That's the most kills Torchilo has posted over his last three matches. Connor Tremaine was another key player, getting seven kills and seven blocks.
Colonial's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-11. As for University, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.
