Basketball Recap: Heartland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Heartland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 40-35 win over the Overland Christian Eagle on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Heartland found their leader in sophomore Savannah Vazquez, who posted 21 points.

Overland Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Harris, who put up ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myleigh Pollard, who earned ten points.

Heartland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.3 points per game. As for Overland Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Heartland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 37-6 victory against Blue Ridge Christian on the 13th. As for Overland Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against El Dorado Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
