Softball Recap: Chuckey-Doak Black Knights vs. Hampton Bulldogs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Greene, Chuckey-Doak was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hampton Bulldogs, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Black Knights have posted since March 13th.

Jayden Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Saniah Atchison was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. Tralyn Southerland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Chuckey-Doak's victory bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Hampton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

Chuckey-Doak wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 14-4 defeat against South Greene on the 9th. Hampton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
