Recap: San Ramon Valley Wolves vs. Campolindo Cougars
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the San Ramon Valley Wolves had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 38-31 victory over Campolindo. Winning may never get old, but San Ramon Valley sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Matthew Garibaldi, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Kevin Spears got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Campolindo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Joe Revelos, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
San Ramon Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Foothill and 4-6 Monte Vista (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.8% over those games). As for Campolindo, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3-1.
San Ramon Valley will square off against De La Salle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in De La Salle's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches. Campolindo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
