Softball Game Preview: Alpena Wildcats vs. Garden City Cougars

The Alpena Wildcats will take on the Garden City Cougars on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Alpena earned a 12-7 victory over Pinconning.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Garden City took on Melvindale on Wednesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 12-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Garden City is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Alpena, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
