Softball Recap: Rivera Takes a Loss

If Rivera was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Donna North last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders fell just short of the Mercedes Tigers by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Anahy Gonzalez-Torres made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Dezaray Banda, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Rivera's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Mercedes, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rivera will face off against rival Pace at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mercedes is set to square off against their familiar foe Lopez at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
