Basketball Recap: Surrey Takes a Loss

Surrey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 100-47 loss at the hands of the Westhope/Newburg Sioux. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 66-27.

Walker Braaten continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Westhope/Newburg, dropping a double-double with 33 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Braaten's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Bailey, who went 11 for 16 to rack up 30 points and three steals.

Surrey's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Westhope/Newburg, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Looking ahead, Surrey will square off against Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood at 7:15 p.m. on February 17th. As for Westhope/Newburg, they will host Glenburn at 7:15 p.m. on February 17th.
