Mountain View is 0-10 against Orem since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. Emily Telford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Stoddard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Orem came out on top against Summit Academy on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run first inning. The Tigers never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Tigers have beaten the Bears the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.
The team relied heavily on Kate Allred, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Mina Powelson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Orem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Orem now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Mountain View, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-7.
Orem's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Orem, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Mountain View's sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mountain View suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Orem in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
