Recap: Millington Central Trojans vs. Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs
The Millington Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 72-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Raleigh-Egypt. While losing is never fun, Millington Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Raleigh-Egypt is ranked 88th).
Millington Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brandon Payne, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tayshaun Dye, who scored 12 points.
Raleigh-Egypt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cassie Bullard, who scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bullard has scored at least 25% of Raleigh-Egypt's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travion Baker, who scored 18 points.
Millington Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millington Central will take on Craigmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they will be playing at home against Covington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
