Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Meade County

Meade County waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Waggener Wildcats a 15-0 shutout. With that victory, the Green Waves brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Tristan Cockerill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cockerill was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Meade County let Austyn Stansbury and Aidan Bratcher run wild. Stansbury scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Bratcher scored two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, Bratcher posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hail, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meade County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Meade County's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.0 runs this season. As for Waggener, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Meade County will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Oldham at 6:30 p.m. As for Waggener, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Southern at 5:30 p.m. on April 8.
