Softball Recap: Rice Takes a Loss

Rice lost against Ferris back in March of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Rice Bulldogs took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ferris Yellowjackets. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Rice saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alaina Burkholder, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Katie Loper also deserves some recognition as she stolen her first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Rice hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rice fell to 4-1-1. As for Ferris, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5-1.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Rice is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Ferris, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Life Oak Cliff on the 22nd.
