Basketball Recap: Shawe Memorial Falls to Columbus Christian in First Game of Season

Shawe Memorial kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 62-48 bruising from the Columbus Christian Crusaders. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Shawe Memorial still got an impressive performance from Loren Stiver, who posted 17 points. Cavaan Hambrick was another key player, putting up ten points.

Leading Columbus Christian to victory were Hunter Gaddard and Ben Cater. Gaddard earned 16 points in addition to six assists and five boards, while Cater scored 16 points and eight rebounds.

Columbus Christian's record is now 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawe Memorial won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Columbus Christian, they will square off against Tabernacle Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
