Velva skates past St. John with ease

Recap: Velva Aggies vs. St. John Woodchucks

The Velva Aggies had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They blew past St. John 77-40 on the road. Velva's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

St. John lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cashmyn Belgarde, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Belgarde's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madden Parisien, who scored 14 points.

Velva's victory bumped their record up to 1-5. As for St. John, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Velva will head out on the road to face off against Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood and Velva are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for St. John, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bottineau at 7:15 p.m. Bottineau presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. John in North Dakota (Bottineau is ranked 16th, while St. John is ranked 91st).
