Preview: Lakeland Regional Lancers vs. Vernon Vikings
The Lakeland Regional Lancers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Vernon Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lakeland Regional focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
Lakeland Regional had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 62-53 victory over Whippany Park. Lakeland Regional's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Lakeland Regional got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Pagan out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Pagan is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Tyler Lynn was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Vernon's 19-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 64-51 to Delaware Valley on Saturday.
Lakeland Regional's victory bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Vernon, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-3.
Lakeland Regional and Vernon were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, but Lakeland Regional came up empty-handed after a 54-53 loss.
