Basketball Game Preview: Evans Knights vs. Lakeside Panthers

The Evans Knights will square off against the Lakeside Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Evans turned things around against Greenbrier last Friday. They walked away with a 64-57 win over the Wolfpack. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 133rd).

Meanwhile, Lakeside waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Wolfpack by a score of 61-53.

Lakeside pushed their record up to 10-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Evans, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-11.

Evans beat Lakeside 84-73 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Evans have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakeside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
