The Colby Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Scott Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colby will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Colby managed to slip by Garden City the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles lost 16-8 to the Buffaloes on Friday.
Morgan Hills and Ryler Carter did some serious damage despite the final result: Hills got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI, while Carter went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sadie Cheney, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Scott put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lakin 16-5. While the Beavers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Baylee Wolkensdorfer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits.
On the hitting side, Peyton Gentry and Adalei Zeller did most of the damage at the plate: Gentry went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Zeller went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Zeller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Crissa Irvin, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Colby's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3. As for Scott, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colby has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Scott struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colby skirted past Scott 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
