 West had to endure  a  four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Coalfield Yellow Jackets  a   1-0 shutout  on Friday.
 The result came thanks to  Griffin Smith's shutout, as he gave up just four  hits and racked up nine Ks.
 At the plate, West's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Konnor Glick, who  went 1-for-3 with a  stolen base.
 West's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Coalfield, their  loss was their first of the  season and makes their record 4-1.
 West has the luxury  of staying home for another  game and will welcome Lakeway Christian Academy at 1:30  p.m.  on Saturday. Lakeway Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.6  runs per game this season. As for Coalfield, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Oliver Springs at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. Coalfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2  runs per game  this season, so Oliver Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
