Basketball Recap: King City Mustangs vs. Soledad Aztecs
King City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Soledad Aztecs. The Mustangs were probably out for revenge after losing 48-36 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Soledad found their leader in sophomore Pedro Morales Jr, who posted 19 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morales Jr has scored all season. Anikan Tavarez was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.
King City's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Soledad, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King City will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Soledad, they will face off against North Salinas at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Salinas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.
