Softball Game Preview: South Glens Falls Bulldogs vs. Gloversville Huskies/Dragons

South Glens Falls has gone a perfect 3-0 against Gloversville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Huskies/Dragons at 4:30 p.m. South Glens Falls is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

South Glens Falls proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Scotia-Glenville 4-2.

Isabelle Ames spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gianna Marissal, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Gloversville never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Johnstown on Friday. They put the hurt on the Sir Bills with a sharp 18-3 win. Considering the Huskies/Dragons' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

South Glens Falls pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Gloversville, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Everything went South Glens Falls' way against Gloversville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as South Glens Falls made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
