Basketball Recap: Esaias Caves' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bradford Prep over Corvian Community

Bradford Prep lost against Corvian Community back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bradford Prep Bears fell 67-56 to the Corvian Community Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Cardinals are ranked 93rd).

Bradford Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Esaias Caves, who went 8-for-10 to rack up 16 points. Micah Jones was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Corvian Community found their leader in sophomore RJ Moore Jr., who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds. Moore Jr.'s evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 23 points. Another player making a difference was Andre Jackson Jr., who posted 12 points and six assists.

Bradford Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Corvian Community, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.

Bradford Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Corvian Community, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Corvian Community's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games.
