North Gaston had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the East Gaston Warriors to the tune of 60-31. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Gaston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Mason, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Mason a new career-high. Tavier Medlin was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 13 points and six steals.
Despite the loss, East Gaston had strong showings from KJ Smith, who posted 12 points, and Ramon De La Oz III, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Hagans, who had three points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Looking ahead, North Gaston will face off against West Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Gaston, they will take on Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
