Basketball Game Preview: Youngker Roughriders vs. Carl Hayden Community Falcons

The Youngker Roughriders will head out to face off against the Carl Hayden Community Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Youngker is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

On Monday, Youngker came up short against Thunderbird and fell 53-45.

Loss or not, Youngker got some senior leadership from Hayden Williams and Ares Chambers. Williams posted 15 points, while Chambers scored 17 points. Williams is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Oscar Guerrero, who had seven points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carl Hayden Community). They blew past Alhambra 102-36 on Thursday. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 30 points or more this season.

Youngker better keep an eye on Tion Wright. He was instrumental in Carl Hayden Community's win, going 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points along with eight steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Damiani Mitchell, who went 6 of 7 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Carl Hayden Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive contests.

Carl Hayden Community is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Youngker, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
