Football Game Preview: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. The First Academy Royals + Official Tickets

The Lakeland Dreadnaughts will face off against The First Academy Royals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lakeland has seven straight wins, The First Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lakeland is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Kathleen: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Dreadnaughts blew the Red Devils out of the water with a 44-6 final score. The Dreadnaughts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 27 points or more this season.

Lakeland found their leader in sophomore Ahnarri Cooper, who rushed for 95 yards and a pair of scores. Cooper got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 85 yards.

Meanwhile, The First Academy ended up a good deal behind Hun on Friday and lost 31-14. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 26th in Florida, while the Raiders are ranked fourth in New Jersey).

Lakeland will have to contain Demetrice McCray as he made an impact in The First Academy's last game. He rushed for 81 yards and one TD, and also picked up 30 receiving yards.

The First Academy now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
