Basketball Recap: New Castle Trojans vs. Lapel Bulldogs
New Castle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 70-63 to the Lapel Bulldogs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Thompson, who went 11-for-18 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Thompson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 58% in the last five games he's played. Mason Miller was another key player, putting up 19 points and five assists.
Luke Jones was a one-man wrecking crew for Lapel as he made all 8 shots he took for 21 points. Those 21 points gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Judge, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 20 points and five boards.
New Castle's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Lapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
New Castle will be playing in front of their home fans against Muncie Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Castle has given up an average of 52.6 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Lapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
