Baseball Recap: Van Horn's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Two

It was a Battle of the Birds when Van Horn duked it out with Harmon on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hawks a 5-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Alex Coin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Van Horn's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Oney-Myers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Van Horn's record now sits at 9-7. As for Harmon, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Horn will welcome University Academy Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Gryphons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.27 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Harmon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atchison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
