Baseball Preview: Mountain View Vikings vs. El Monte Lions
Mountain View is 8-2 against El Monte since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 3:30 p.m. Mountain View will be strutting in after a win while El Monte will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Mountain View turned things around against Gabrielino on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Eagles. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the match before.
ALEX MORENO made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. MORENO was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-10 otherwise.
