Softball Game Preview: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Grossmont Foothillers

Monte Vista is 0-7 against Grossmont since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Monarchs will host the Foothillers at 4:00 p.m. Monte Vista has given up an average of 19.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monte Vista is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Helix, falling 18-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Monarchs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Grossmont was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 6-1 to Olympian. The Foothillers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Nakhia Lee was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Heidi Villa also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Grossmont's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12-1. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
