Softball Game Preview: Evergreen Valley Cougars vs. James Lick Comets

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will take on the James Lick Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Evergreen Valley came up short against Independence on Wednesday, falling 10-4. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the 76ers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

On the hitting side, Daven Woodham was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, James Lick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 21-11 to Mt. Pleasant.

Natalie Cortez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada Cruz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

James Lick's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Evergreen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
