Baseball Game Preview: St. Mary's Saints vs. McDonogh Eagles

The St. Mary's Saints will face off against the McDonogh Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Mary's is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, St. Mary's didn't have quite enough to beat Southern Maryland Christian Academy and fell 4-3.

Meanwhile, McDonogh fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. John's Catholic Prep on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 11-10. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Michael Gorsky made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of McDonogh's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Lambert, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for McDonogh, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
