Softball Recap: Bishop Hartley Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Liberty Union, Bishop Hartley was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Bishop Watterson Eagles by a score of 13-8. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Jasmine Wooten was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Wooten was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Bailey, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anaya Bumpus, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Bishop Hartley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Watterson only managed ten hits.

Bishop Hartley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Bishop Watterson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Coincidentally, Bishop Hartley and Bishop Watterson will both be playing St. Francis DeSales the next time they take the field. The Hawks will head out to face the Stallions at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
