The Cate Rams will head out to face off against the Dunn Earwigs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cate will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Cate will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Bishop Diego, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Rams walked away with a 4-0 win over the Cardinals on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Chase Meyer, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Dunn came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Saints. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Earwigs have posted against the Saints since May 19, 2021.
Hudson Von Der Lieth was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Dunn's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Theodore Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Dunn's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Cate, their record now sits at 9-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cate has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dunn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cate took their victory against Dunn in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
