Football Recap: Kossuth Skates Past Alcorn Central with Ease

Kossuth extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-2. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 49-15 victory over the Alcorn Central Bears. Considering the Aggies have won four games by more than 26 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Eli Tays, who rushed for 225 yards and three TDs while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kossuth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 319 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

As for Alcorn Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Kossuth is ranked 114th).

Alcorn Central's loss came despite strong showings from Ashton Peters and Ty Whitten. Peters rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, while Whitten rushed for 69 yards. Peters also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making nine total tackles and defending one pass.

Kossuth has already played their next contest, a 49-8 win against Holly Springs on the 6th. As for Alcorn Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 50-7 loss against Coahoma County on the 7th.
